Welcome to Year Five!
So welcome to Year 5! Mrs Hughes, Mrs Rayner, Mr Taylor, Miss Field, Mrs Millman and Mr Pearson are here to help you thrive and achieve as you progress through your schooling. You’ll soon be year 6 then secondary school – wow!
So what do we expected from our children? We love hearing polite children who have good manners and a thirst and eagerness for learning. Please be organised with your home reading (IT IS VITAL) as well as your pencils, rulers and general stationary. Arrive at lessons ready to learn and progress!
During the autumn you will be learning about Earth and Space. Our humanities topic is the Marvellous Mayans and after half term we will be looking at the Civil War, with an exciting trip to Corfe Castle! In P.E. we will be swimming right up until Christmas- Don't forget your kits!
Every morning FIT tasks, English and Maths will happen. We want brilliant progress in these subjects this year and are committing every morning to these vital subject areas. Please help us to help you by reading at home and learning your tables!
Make sure you take advantage of the clubs and activities on offer to you after school hours. Mr Bartram will be running both football and netball clubs – we want to see lots of year 5 children participating in sports clubs at lunchtimes and after school. Mr Waller is always looking for keen talented musicians to join our famous Talbot band. Don’t be shy about joining up, as Christmas is a magical time to make music and performing in public is a great confidence booster!
Our school Learning Power is Collaboration and then Reflection after half term, so we plan to do lots of activities which help develop your skills as a team member. TEAM – Together Everyone Achieves More.
So, be prepared for year 5, the more you put into a day, the more you get out of it. We really want to see you thrive and achieve!
