This week we have being talking about our families, homes and pets and celebrating all the things that make us different. We have been drawing self portraits and pictures of our families and labelling them where possible. We have talked about the different homes that we live in, food that we eat and pets that we have. At the end of the week we tasted different foods such as lemons, salt and vinegar crisps and marshmallows to find out if we all liked the same foods. We have had a great first half term getting to know each other and look forward to the next half term of learning.
This week we have learnt the phonemes
We have been reading words containing these phonemes and reading the tricky word the. This week our new tricky word is
Tricky words are words that cannot be blended using the phonemes we have learnt these words need to be sight read and remembered.
This week we have been comparing size, length and capacity using objects within our classroom. We have extended our vocabulary and can now use phrases such as taller than/ shorter than, bigger than/ smaller than. This language enables us to make comparisons between two objects.
