They will also be learning about the key features of a river that we will learn more about later in the year.

Children will be learning how to hold and use different pencils for sketching and shading. They will also be learning how the pressure used on the paper can affect the way the shading comes out. They will be using light sources to find shadow and will be creating a still-life piece to finish off the topic.
Religion & Worldviews
Our R&W topic this term is Christianity. Children will aim to answer the question 'Do people need to go to church to show they are Christians?'
PSHE
In PSHE we are learning about our Golden Rules and what it means to be kind, how to resolve conflict and make others feel welcome by being a good friend. We will discuss how we can show kindness though our actions and read stories which help us to reflect on how to solve problems we may face. November normally marks Anti-Bullying week, where we focus on what we can do to show respect to others.
PE
This term our PE days are Monday and Wednesday. On these days can your child please come to school wearing their PE kit.
On Mondays the children will have Swimming lessons. Please bring swim kit. The other PE topic this half-term is Outdoor Adventurous Activities.
Computing
The focus this half-term is Creating Media: Desktop Publishing. In this unit, learners will develop their understanding of how digital images can be changed and edited, and how they can then be resaved and reused. They will consider the impact that editing images can have, and evaluate the effectiveness of their choice.
Music
Singing and Notation - Further Skills. This half-term, Year 4 will use percussion instruments to learn and perform standard notation using the Kodaly method. Usually, the Djembe drums are the most popular instrument! This method takes a difficult concept and breaks it down into sounds that help the children to keep in time and ultimately write their own pieces to perform.
