Autumn 2: Weekly Timetable

What are we learning about this term?

 

Term 2 (Autumn 2) 2025

Maths

The children will continue to expand their understanding of numbers to 1000. They will also refine their place value knowledge of numbers beyond 100 and explore the composition of these numbers by representing them in different ways. The children will then begin to our Addition and Subtraction topic which will see them add and subtract numbers to 1000 in varied contexts including measures and problem solving. This topic will continue into next term.

 

English

Our literary theme this term is ‘Dreams and Curiosity’, this theme will be explored through the text; The BFG by Roald Dahl. Pupils will have the opportunity to read, discuss and share opinions on the text whilst also having the opportunity to respond to the text through their creative writing. This will include retellings of stories, writing persuasive texts and diary entries.

History

Following on from the pupils’ work on the Stone Age, they will gain a further understanding of the early history of Britain this term by focussing on The Romans. They will learn why their army was so powerful, the extent and success of The Roman Empire and the impact their culture had on modern Britain.

Science

Our Science topic this term is Forces and Magnets. Through this topic will gain an understanding of a few scientific forces such as gravity and friction. Following this, our focus will be on magnetism. The topic will culminate in pupils designing and making their own magnetic games.

DT

In DT, pupils will be developing their sewing and problem solving skills by designing and making a pencil case. This topic will see them comparing and evaluating materials, revising the running stitch, cutting and measuring fabric and learning how to adapt their designs where necessary.

RE

Pupils will begin looking at the traditional meaning of Christmas and what Christmas means to Christians.

PSHE

In PSHE the children will be learning about safe relationships then respecting ourselves and others.

PE

This term our PE day is on Thursday. On this day can your child please come to school wearing their PE kit. Year 3 will also have Forest School sessions on a Wednesday this half term. Please remember wellies and wet weather wear!
